Updates to the Garden

Surviving the seasons

The seasons change and the garden dies down and regrows. Its so easy to forget hw vibrant it was just a month ago. i always take photos and then i can look back and know there is hope and beautiful things to come. Developing a new garden means you will have seasonal changes that you didn't factor into the plan. maybe the budget wont stretch that far, maybe you thought that shrub would flower longer, maybe the frost came early, or the wind or the rain. you need to remember that nature rules the garden and you cant always out think nature, well never actually. So go with the flow, admire what you have and look back on those photos as a reminder. I walk around the garden in the winter and note the gaps.... not the gaps in colour but the gaps in form and shape. sometimes you can divide a grass to fill a gap and add texture, or move a shrub thats not doing so well to a place that will shelter it a bit more.

Its a good planning time.

What's new

The latest additions to Tudor Garden are many, which is surprising really as we didnt think we had done much since the main structures were done.

1. There is a Wonderland Garden complete with toadstool tables, Hookah Smoking Caterpillar and a White Rabbit who is always in a rush... but still always late!

2. The Mad Hatter has a Petanque Pit... The Queen wanted  a Croquet court but oh well.

3, There's a flash scoreboard, the winner gets to wear the Mad Hatters Hat.. for a while.

4. Two new extensions to the main garden to bring them into the lawn a little more.

5. Two Cherry trees, a Weeping Betula (Birch) and A Wedding tree ( Cornus)

6. I found an old free Trampoline and we made an arch so Clematis Paniculata can climb.

7. Covered the potting bench to stop the roosting sparrows from pooping on it.

8.There's a new 8 meter shade house to raise seeds and tomatoes in summer.

9. Six new chooks to ad to the 10 we had. Eggs galore and attitudes to die for.

10. A Mediterranean garden out front so I can pretend it"s summer out there. I found a 3 meter table for sale, whitewashed it and voila a Mediterranean dining table for Xmas.

It seats 16... looks great with new blue stencilled kiwiana...and I love it. Thanks to the Boss who immediately "strengthened it" Now it doesn't wobble. The bonus was 8 wooden forms that came with it.. they will be placed strategically around the garden so we can 'perch' and 'admire ' from time to time.  Our old seats fitted the table perfectly.

What a find!!!!
